Air Jewelry - Simon Aird
1946
Aird Jewelry was founded by Mr. Simon Aird in March 1946. Painter Mr. Aird decided with the help of his wife Mrs. Bertille Lafrance to open his business at 1588 East Mont-Royal Street. At the time, jewelry stores did not only sell jewelry and watches; one could also buy: gifts, silverware, alarm clocks, rosaries, clocks, smoking articles and so on. The following year, on the advice of a savvy businessman, he devoted himself more specifically to the jewelry and gift business.

In 1952, Mr. Aird moved his business to a larger location at 1233 Mont-Royal Street East. The founder established new business practices. He imported 14K and 18K gold jewelry made in Europe to offer his customers a more distinctive and exclusive choice. It was at this time that he created his own line of watches imported from Switzerland and signed Aird. At the same time, he began manufacturing jewelry personalizing the brand of his boutique. Over the years, Mr. Aird, in addition to jewelry and gifts, offered a range of selected works of art as well as reproductions of sculptures by great European masters.

1975
In 1973, his eldest son, Daniel, joined the business, continuing the family tradition of a business that had been well established for 27 years. In 1975, Simon and Daniel Aird decided to move the business to Ahuntsic, on Fleury Street. The Aird family, residents of the area for three generations, purchased 1543 Fleury Street, finding it the ideal location to continue their business. In February 1976, to celebrate the jewelry store's thirtieth anniversary, Simon and Daniel Aird welcomed their customers into a brand-new setting. In addition to an even larger and more exclusive range of jewelry, the store offered grandfather and wall clocks, remaining true to Simon Aird's philosophy: quality of service is paramount. In 1978, Daniel Aird purchased his father's business.

1990
In 1988 Daniel Aird renovated the jewelry store to expand and welcome customers in a more modern, pleasant and friendly atmosphere. In 1990 he opened an art gallery on the second floor to offer his customers a range of paintings and sculptures by Quebec and European artists. Exhibitions have been held over the years to promote the talent of the gallery's artists. In 1997, his son Eric, third generation, joined the jewelry store to continue the work that his grandfather and father had done since 1946. In 2014, major renovations were undertaken to modernize the jewelry store; once again Daniel Aird wanted his business to be up to date to showcase the house's creations. In 2015 Daniel Aird sold the jewelry store to his son Eric.
